Full Moon in Capricorn

Hello Friends,

I’m writing this on the heels of the Full Moon in Capricorn, the first to occur in context of the outer planets in their new homes — Neptune and Saturn conjunct in Aries, Uranus in Gemini, Pluto in Aquarius.

We are also between Juno’s station direct in Scorpio (July 10th, 9 pm Pacific) and Saturn’s station retrograde in Aries (July 12th, 9:07 pm Pacific).

One theme I’m noticing continue to evolve through this particular astrological context, is how non-rational (intuitive, instinctual, sensuous, kinesthetic, emotional) intelligences are wanting to emerge within our 1:1 commitments and, through that emergence, transform or transfigure those bonds.

Bonds become untenable or unsustainable when some of our internal creatures (i.e. Zodiac animals, planets, parts) have limited access to food, shelter, space and connection in our lives more broadly, not necessarily particular to that bond. In other words, a diversity of bonds/connections/forms of relational sustenance help fortify our committed 1:1 bonds. Being in diverse community alleviates the weight of expectations that we put on our 1:1 bonds and expands our receptivity to the richness they can offer even when they aren’t themselves directly supplying regular, reliable or recognizable sustenance of a particular kind.

But community is complicated.

And this moment, with Saturn stationing retrograde in Aries (the sign of the individual) next to Neptune … makes it extra weird or non-linear.

In other words, it’s a moment to tend community or ecosystems on the inner realms which are in spontaneous reciprocity with the community-tending/realization on the outer realms.

Juno (goddess of oaths, bonds, committed relationships, preserver of the social fabric) has been dancing around an opposition with Uranus (a planet of disruption, rebellion, revolution) in Taurus for the last several months, and one way that I saw that opposition unfold was as a disruption of the view that our “internal parts” are justinternal”.

At the level of our dream-body or the imaginal realm, the “parts” of our internal family system are non-rationally, non-linearly, wildly, immediately interconnected with the animate universe, which of course includes many non-human and more-than-human people. Our evolving relationship to our “inner parts” or “internal family systems” can affect the social fabric outside of ourselves in unpredictable ways. And, vice versa.

The Zodiac, as in the Circle of Animals, can be seen as an archetypal community or ecosystem. And it’s amazing how satisfied the animals of the Zodiac can feel, just by getting to experience hunger urges fulfilled through the inner realms and creative expression — through play and imagination — but while also in a grounded container or ritual context that’s attending to reciprocity within the web of relations (i.e. not ungrounded fantasy or virtual reality. We already subconsciously know that feeding these hunger urges through the imaginal realm “works”. We do it all the time through various forms of fantasy. And in this era of AI, this can take us quickly astray from the point, from being custodians of Story, Life, the Earth ….)

What was relationally disturbed or disrupted through Uranus’ connection to Juno, has a moment to be re-woven or re-cohered now … but via the individual (and their relationship to their ‘internal’ Circle of Animals) and individual acts of courage as Saturn moves through Aries.

And with Saturn stationing retrograde, the focus at the moment is even more likely to be inward, towards taking responsibility for making space for more of ourselves within ourselves through perceptual shifts, play and imagination. These internal shifts help shift the external ways we “civilize” ourselves, or ongoingly imagine and build human civilization, and tend the social fabric — in ways we cannot know on this side of this moment’s portal.

But that inward focus is really being prompted by how the voices and hungers of our inner creatures are making sounds, movements or otherwise grabbing our attention in context of our outer relational oaths and commitments, as Juno stationed direct together with Saturn’s station retrograde around this Full Moon in Capricorn.

And all of this is unfolding in context of Uranus’ ingress into Gemini. Gemini is about play, paradox, uncertainty and the in-between.

The being-with things not-making-sense … until they make-sense.

I’m reminded of those Magic Eye books from the 90s, where you look at a page of just computer-generated data that looks like a mess of color and patterns …

and you relax your eyes

focusing just beyond the apparent picture

until another picture appears —

but this one has more dimensionality to it.

It feels like a good metaphor for Uranus’ time in Gemini except with Uranus, instead of just one multi-dimensional image popping out, there are infinite possibilities of images that can pop out depending on your focus.

Depending on what Zodiac creature’s eyes you’re seeing through.

It also feels like hanging out with the Hermes’ caduceus, the staff that’s made up of two snakes and wings at the top. The snakes are knotted at the bottom, then intertwine with each other up until they’re about to seemingly kiss at the top. But they don’t actually touch. There’s the knot of Necessity and the almost-kiss of Eros. A moment of peak tension.

It is the pregnant moment where you haven’t yet collapsed the relational tension with a Kiss, or the Answer, or the Action, the Strategy, Solution or Desire … because there’s an acknowledgment of and a being-with the knot of Necessity. Something necessitates your attention, which is being prompted by a tension existing in an external oath or commitment with the Other.

But you don’t know exactly what it is yet. What is it calling your attention from the inner realms?

Something can happen in that in-between, in that not-knowing.

Something with more dimensionality, something that has Life in it, has a chance to come through, be seen, heard, felt, known.

If you can let your eyes relax

not collapsing your vision upon what’s the-most-obvious or rational thing to you about what the situation in front of you IS (or isn't) …

but rather ground and be-with the temporary chaos (and the panic that often accompanies chaos) that happens when you relax your visionletting it become available to the Zodiac creature that’s pressing to come forward

then you have a chance to really see through their eyes and what they might be perceiving about the situation …

and something new, surprising and revitalizing can come into focus.

You might learn something you didn’t know before about where this creature is coming from, what they remember, need and want, what competencies they bring to the table …

and just, how it might feel to have them recognized by you.

The Zodiac creature (again —planet, aspect pattern, mythic character, astrological symbol) that’s wanting to emerge and show themselves to YOU, have more space within you, be in dynamic conversation with you, also has the potential to transfigure your bonds into more resilient, dynamic, sustainable, multi-dimensional relationships available to Life and adaptation.

So, in alignment with these current astrological themes, and to support us in this era of Fire & Air that we are somersaulting into, I’m happy to announce a new kind of astrology session that’s been in the works for years now!
