New Moon in Gemini
There are many parts of this New Moon moment that I find interesting, and I think I might just present them in a Geminian fashion rather than try to synthesize them — while also allowing and bringing presence to the grief of not being able to dive into every part or planet present here in the Sky.
Because that’s a theme for this Moon too. Not all parts of the whole can be forward, expressed and seen in a given moment. Some will inevitably be concealed, hidden. Some parts of us — some beings that are here — may feel unseen, unheard, left unknown, left behind.
There will be an unchosen one.
As Saturn joins Neptune in Aries, the new beginning that wants to be birthed through us, comes with a concretized ending, a simplification, a letting go. Not everything needs to be done, said or shared, for it to be good enough and whole.
May our nervous systems keep returning to center, keep returning to ground, as we restore a Self-led relationship to the one (inside or outside) who feels unchosen, whose dreams or goals feel left behind or left out of the picture — as well as the one making the cuts.
May we develop inner fluidity, empathy and imaginal nourishment around this experience of accepting our limits with respect to the hard choices we face.
May we allow, accept and hear from the experience of the unchosen one, while embracing the banks of our river, reducing erosion from self-criticism, and finding flow, creative empowerment, clarity and biodiversity therein.
The New Moon is 6°05’ of Gemini in an exact quincunx to Vesta and Black Moon Lilith.
Vesta/Hestia, the guarantor of the social bond. The center fire of the Self and the Earth. Goddess of the Hearth. The guardian of innermost things. The empty focality that allows the continuance of family and community. The one we pray to first before every ritual, so that she may grant us a “frame of mind which is indispensable to proper relations with the gods” where they appear in “their holiness and authenticity.”(1) The reason we un-blend from parts before doing deep imaginal work. The one who empowers our innate and benevolent hospitality to Clytemnestra, the unchosen one that lives in (but is not limited to) the place of Gemini.
Lilith, the one who can insist upon equality, say No and let the other think what they will about her. She amplifies the ammorality (not immorality) of Mercury present in this New Moon — but, as she is in a quincunx to it, there might be feelings of intense annoyance and irritation as she speaks up for what’s been exiled, defying old social agreement or synthetic relational arrangements. It’s Lilith you might be sensing if you’ve been recently feeling the protraction of your claws, baring of fangs, rattling of your tail in the face of old language structures that tame and box in fresh imagery that’s here and available to inspire new, dynamic ways to link and unlink and be in the mystery together.
The New Moon is in an exact square to Persephone in Pisces.
Persephone, Wife of Hades, Queen of the Underworld, Goddess of Springtime, Daughter of Demeter.
Persephone in Pisces may be the part of us feeling confused, seasick, at a loss, flooded, overwhelmed, amidst an ocean of grief with no sight of shore. She may be in a liminal space, between an old story world and some vast unknown.
And, also, Persephone may be enjoying herself. She may carry the ability to see what is hidden to others. She may be receiving the accompaniment of Hekate (who is trine to her, in Scorpio), receiving edu-care or some essential modeling from the Crone that she wasn’t able to receive from her mother, feeling the ways her own system is experientially learning how to co-exist with the darkness and the Scorpion, while surrendering to and radically loving herself in her own current limits around that.
New Moon in Gemini square Saturn-Neptune in Aries
The New Moon is in a sextile to Saturn, Neptune and Ceres in Aries.
Saturn, Time meets Neptune, Timelessness. Form meets formlessness. The divine is sacrificed to the human. We surrender to our limits and, within that, find more space to be ourselves in relationship with Life.
Ceres is here too, helping us self-validate and frame what is beautiful about ourselves as just that — a gift that we ourselves are blessed to give others — containing our minds there as we bring benevolent presence to old comparative self-talk that leaks our energy into … why can’t they do what I’m doing for them? And why can’t I do what they are doing for me? Neptune is re-wilding our notions of reciprocity, and Ceres is the part of us that’s parenting and nourishing the individual through that shift in perspective.
Mars is conjunct Hermes (asteroid) in Leo.
Hermes, the younger sibling, the trickster, companion of shades, with winged-sandals and magic wand in hand. The messenger, mediator and boundary-breaker. The upregulator and downregulator. The one who can help shift inner and outer cell signaling (i.e. self-talk and outer conversations) so that different receptor sites open up along its perceptual membrane while others close down, facilitating wildly new realities to be known.
And Mars, the one that Hermes is now guiding to the audiences who can help continue midwifing (in unexpected ways) Mars’ new impulses, urges and psychic processes around preserving bonds while leaving behind old perspectives and patterns rooted in shame or blame.
Contemplation on Hermes (asteroid) conjunct Mars in Leo, and Vesta in Scorpio.
